  • This work investigated the possibility of registering a Geographical Indication (GI) for soapstone in the region of Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais. A conceptualization of industrial property was made, its influence on the development of the region, which is recognized, and a survey on which laws and bodies are competent to grant a GI. Through studies on the traditionality, quality and typicality of soapstone, data were collected that would reflect the potential of the region to become a GI. It is also intended to carry out a field research and finally confront the collected data to verify the viability and obstacles for the registration of an indication of origin or a denomination of origin

  • Industrial property in Brazil, regulated by Law 9.279/1996, has as one of its intangible assets, the geographical indication. This is defined as a record that distinguishes the origin of a product or a service existing in a given territory, be it a place, a city, a region or even a country. The IG is able to contribute to the territorial socioeconomic development, through a synergistic action with the other local actors. The present study sought to explore the geographical indication of service, in view of its unusual character in Brazil and in the world, and had as its object the segment of gastronomic services in the city of Tiradentes, Minas Gerais. In addition to its well-known history and architecture, the city has become notorious for housing an out-of-home food service center, as evidenced by publications extracted from scientific databases and the mass media. In 2017, Tiradentes ran for UNESCO's Network of Creative Cities for Gastronomy, with the support of the state government, which assumes a considerable vigor of the APL in the territory. To carry out the diagnosis, secondary sources such as articles, dissertations and theses extracted from newspapers, magazines and scientific platforms, books, international and Brazilian legislation, as well as official data from the food service sector, were consulted, through consultation of the Observatory's website. of Tourism in Minas Gerais. Consultations were also carried out on the websites of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the National Institute of Industrial Property, the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, among others. Personal documents of city residents and entrepreneurs were also analyzed. Data collection was performed virtually by Google Forms. As for the results, the APL of gastronomic services, even with its promising trajectory and reach of some notoriety, with the practices of creative cuisine and the adoption of the "Slow Food" movement ("slow cooking"), much acclaimed today, does not present potential. for recognition by geographical indication of the species indication of origin. The elements that refute this possibility are the minority presence of natives as chefs and entrepreneurs and the traditional Minas Gerais cuisine, weakening the link between the productive arrangement of services and local history and culture, and the extrapolation of the geographic area by service providers, due to the performance of some of them in other cities, which generates the loss of exclusivity of the Tiradentes territory over the notorious services. Although the legislation only requires notoriety for the granting of GI of the type indication of origin, which is controversial in the doctrine, since this registration has as its main objective the safeguarding of tradition rooted in a certain local culture, such a declaratory act is not justified for service that breaks with the history and cultural heritage of a community. In the conclusions, reform of art. 177 of the LPI by the legislature and forwarding of future studies for the implementation of a collective mark in the Tiradentes APL.

  • The Innovation Law, officially known as Law No. 10,973/2004, came to reflect changes in the configuration of Science and Technology Institutions (ICTs) as well as in the university-company relationship. From there came the need to create Technological Innovation Centers (NITs), with the purpose of equating the way in which institutional innovation policies are treated, giving the respective Centers greater autonomy of action. When it comes to innovation in the Campo das Vertentes region in the State of Minas Gerais, it was identified that there is no mapping of innovation in this region, with only general information on innovation in this State and the mapping of innovation in the Midwest region of Minas Gerais. The objective of this study was to map the innovation generated in public and private Higher Education Institutions based in the cities of Campo das Vertentes region of Minas Gerais. That said, a quantitative study was developed, based on the application of a semi-structured questionnaire with 6 (six) NIT managers of public and private Higher Education Institutions, based in the cities that make up the Campo das Vertentes region: Instituto Federal of the Southeast of Minas Gerais - Barbacena campus; Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ) - Campi São João del-Rei; Federal University of Lavras (UFLA); Federal Institute of Southeast Minas Gerais - campus São João del-Rei; Presidente Antônio Carlos University (UNIPAC) - Campus Barbacena; President Tancredo de Almeida Neves University Center (UNIPTAN). The questions were related to the innovation generated only on the HEI campuses and not in the institution as a whole. The results reveal that HEIs based in the Campos das Vertentes region, despite the years, face major challenges with regard to the development of innovation. When comparing the degree of innovation between the HEIs, the data showed a contrast between the institutions. There was a predominance of progress with regard to innovation in public institutions. Furthermore, while one has personnel, structure and a significant number of intellectual protection, it is clear that others are in the process of development. Facing this challenge requires proposals for innovation and more effective public policies, as well as government support to attract qualified human resources and financial resources. It is necessary to build a culture of innovation, with technology diffusion policies that reach the academic community in its entirety, as well as actions aimed at the development and implementation of technology transfer. Simultaneously, decentralization of processes related to innovation to minimize bureaucratic obstacles, optimizing time and granting autonomy to NITs.

  • This work aims to analyze a process of transforming credit card receivables into tokens (digital assets) in Brazil, through the application of Blockchain technology, in order to verify the competitiveness gains for companies through the reduction of dependency of financial intermediaries and the increase in the supply of resources to finance their needs. For that, a qualitative and descriptive research was used, in which we sought to describe the phenomenon of tokenization of assets and its relationship with the forms of financing companies. It seeks to demonstrate that the use of Blockchain technology allows the elimination of financial intermediaries, through smartcontracts and tokenization of credit card receivables. Disintermediation makes it possible to increase the volume of offers of resources destined to finance business activities and, consequently, to reduce the interest rate charged, improving the competitiveness of companies.

The main objective of this research was to analyze the resources of the Support Program for the Technological Innovation Center, granted by FAPEMIG to the NITs, their distribution, as well as the results achieved over the years, in order to understand how such a program has contributed to the development of innovation in the State of Minas Gerais. As specific objectives, we sought to collect data made available by the MCTI in the period from 2000 to 2020 with regard to the evolution of Federal Government spending on ST&I and R&D, with emphasis on the State of Minas Gerais; in addition to verifying the results achieved over the years in comparison with the volumes of resources contributed by FAPEMIG to the NITs. For this, a descriptive research was carried out, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, in which bibliographical and documental research were used through data collection in reports and information made available by FAPEMIG. The context of the study was directed towards society in general, in particular for ICT's in Minas Gerais, so that transparency was given to the results of the resources spent by FAPEMIG. Preliminary results show Brazil improved its position in the ranking of the Global Innovation Index, although it is not its best position; the data also show that there has been an increase in resources allocated to ST&I over the years; business expenditures represent a smaller percentage of investments made than public investments; there is a significant participation of the States in the provision of public resources for ST&I and in R&D, although it does not occur in an equitable way. Regarding the expenditures granted by FAPEMIG, in the period from 2001 to 2021, 14 public calls were launched that supported a total of 236 projects. About 77% of the amount of resources made available were allocated to federal institutions, 18% to state institutions and 5% to private institutions. Of the resources fostered by FAPEMIG, more than 98% were used to cover funding expenses (scholarships, other third-party services, per diems, tickets, operating expenses, consumables, software, books, consulting, bibliographic material, among others), while that capital expenditures (related to permanent materials and equipment) absorbed only 1.76% of the amounts spent. The data show that the support granted by FAPEMIG, through public calls, is essential for the creation, maintenance and strengthening of the NITs

  • The Geographical Indication (GI) is an industrial property instrument that seeks to identify the origin of a particular product or service. Its registration recognizes reputation, qualities or characteristics that are attributed to the place of origin, through natural and human influences. This collective protection tool can promote regional development and preserve local traditions, conferring benefits to both producers and the region, as long as there is an efficient structural arrangement. This work aimed to analyze the potential of the municipality of Cipotânea to be recognized as a Geographical Indication for handicrafts made of corn straw. To this end, a qualitative research with a descriptive and explanatory approach was carried out, adopting the case study strategy for the collection and analysis of information, given the need for interaction between the researcher and the actors of the investigated region. The survey of the necessary requirements to obtain the geographical indication registration occurred based on the methodology adopted by SEBRAE entitled "Guide for the Diagnosis of a Potential Geographical Indication", which consists of the application of a questionnaire with open questions that allow the analysis of the product's reputation and its association with the region, information about the territory, the representative entity, the actions of institutions and producers, as well as the survey of local historical, cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. As for the results, even though the region has a certain reputation, the supporting documents, considering the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the sources, are insufficient to consolidate the characterization of the notoriety of the Cipotânea region linked to the corn straw handicraft. Furthermore, the diagnosis identified certain weaknesses in certain aspects, such as the scarcity of associative and cooperative practices among the artisans. However, elements were identified that may favor the implementation of a Collective Brand, whose feasibility study was suggested for future research.

  • Incubators emerged with the purpose of fostering the creation of new companies, contributing to the development of incubated companies by providing an environment conducive to accelerating the process of technological innovation. Bearing in mind the growth in the number of incubators in Brazil, the National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative Enterprises (ANPROTEC) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (SEBRAE) made efforts to develop the Reference Center for Support to New Enterprises (CERNE), aiming at qualifying and leveling the performance of business incubators in the country. Based on this context, this work aims to analyze the main difficulties faced by business incubators during the certification process in the CERNE methodology, as well as to identify the mechanisms used to overcome such challenges. To this end, this project began with a bibliographical survey to theoretically support the study and adapt the research outlines. The research will have a quantitative approach of a descriptive nature, and data collection will take place through questionnaires sent, via google forms, to business incubators located in Minas Gerais and associated with ANPROTEC. Although there are few published studies on the implementation of the CERNE methodology, there is feasibility of carrying out the research according to the proposed methodology and due to the importance of the theme for those involved. It is intended to identify the main difficulties encountered during the process of implementing the CERNE model and the mechanisms used to overcome such challenges, and thus help business incubator managers in understanding and implementing it. It is also intended to present the main difficulties encountered during the implementation process of the CERNE model, the mechanisms used to overcome such challenges, the situation of Minas Gerais incubators associated with ANPROTEC regarding the implementation of each key practice of the CERNE maturity level 1, as well as the degree of difficulty of implementing the key processes at the said level of maturity, in addition to identifying the position and training area of the team members responsible for implementing the CERNE methodology.

  • Coffee is one of the most important agribusiness crops in Brazil, and harvesting is a crucial stage in the production process. This study aimed to examine the technologies associated with the mechanization of coffee harvesting in the country. The research analyzed patent databases to identify inventions and applicants in this area, as well as studying the sector's evolution over time. As the largest producer, exporter and second largest consumer of coffee in the world, Brazil plays a significant role in the global market, which makes this research relevant. The methodology was based on quantitative research, documentary analysis of patent databases from the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and the international Orbit Intelligence database using keywords and the IPC (International Patents Classification) code. Both nationally and internationally, the results showed that Brazil is a priority country for patent applications in this segment, with Brazilian agricultural machinery companies standing out. However, educational and research institutions had low participation and there were few registrations of computer programs related to coffee harvesting. The sector has been growing since the 2000s, probably due to the expansion of the industry and the development of public policies that favor the innovation environment. This research provides input for agricultural machinery Research & Development (R&D) organizations, whether in developing new technologies, identifying commercial partners or transferring technology.

  • Geographical Indication (GI) is one of the forms of protection, within the scope of industrial property, for products or services that originate from a certain location, and can occur in two different ways: Designation of Origin (DO) or Indication of Origin (IP ). The municipality of Coronel Xavier Chaves, located in the state of Minas Gerais, has an association of handicraft women  who have been producing Renda de Abrolhos since 1983, with the purpose of generating income, valuing the participants and preserving the tradition and way of doing this. In this context, the goal of this work was to analyze the possibility of obtaining GI registration with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), for Renda de Abrolhos in the municipality of Coronel Xavier Chaves, considering some requirements of current legislation. To this end, research was carried out within a qualitative approach, of an applied nature, using bibliographical and documentary research and action research as technical and methodological procedures. The objectives, classified as descriptive and exploratory, and the data were treated considering content analysis. The potential for meeting some of the legislation's requirements was analyzed by surveying the historical context of the formation of the crafts' productive structure, identifying the production process and its particularities, gathering documents to prove the notoriety of the geographical name, and the identification and delimitation of the geographical production area. A proposal for a draft Technical Specifications Booklet for the IG and another for graphic representation were presented. As for the results, the studies carried out managed to achieve their objectives and indicated evidence that there is, indeed, the possibility of requesting GI registration with the INPI, in the IP type, for Renda de Abrolhos in the municipality of Coronel Xavier Chaves, considering the main requirements of current legislation that were analyzed.

  • The Geographical Indication (GI) is a legal institute for the protection of products and or services that have differentiated qualities resulting from the originating geographic environment and have the potential to generate many benefits, encouraging local development. The pewter handcrafts of São João Del Rei is a unique artistic manifestation, an expression of the identify and culture of the city, characterized by its differentiated production since the 1960s, but maintaining the colonial production characteristics of the 18th century. The recognition of the notoriety of this handcrafts was requested in 2010 and recognized by INPI in 2012. The purpose of this work was to analyze the perceptions of artisans about the results of the registration of indication of the origin of São João del Rei, in the ten years after the registration. To this end, the research adopted a qualitative approach of descriptive nature, with a case study strategy. The data was collected though bibliographical and documentary research, interviews and questionnaires, whit the pewter handcraft producers. In relation to the results obtained, it was found that producers expected the benefits of GI to include increased sales and revenue, the dissemination of craftsmanship, the creation of a strong brand and certification of product quality. For 87.5% of the producers, these results were not perceived. It was found that challenges such as the lack of knowledge about the GI among the population, publicizing the products and the strengthening of associations between producers, with the consequent strengthening of the artisans' association, need to be addressed if the GI is to achieve the expected benefits. However, despite the fact that the benefits have not been perceived, the producers of São João Del Rei's pewter handicrafts consider the registration of the GI to be relevant.

  • The advent of globalization has brought significant changes related to the territorial productive dynamics in several productive sets, configuring increasingly dynamic and competitive environments. In this sense, some regions, including those of artisanal production, have sought to implement distinctive signs of origin and quality, through Geographical Indication (GI), as a strategy capable of facing the challenges of globalization. The GI is an industrial property asset, which grants legal protection to geographic names of products and services, due to certain characteristics linked to their origin. This asset can be used as a strategic instrument to differentiate, protect and value typical products and promote local socioeconomic development, generating benefits for the producer, for the consumer, for the region and for the country. Brazil has great potential for the registration of GI, however, it is essential to study the diagnosis for structuring and subsequent registration of this distinctive sign. In Minas Gerais, the Local Productive Cluster (APL) of artisanal production of leather saddles in the municipality of Dores de Campos-MG is identified as a product subject to GI protection, in view of the historical process of formation of the cluster, the association from production to the territory, local know-how and the economic importance of this activity in the region. Thus, the study aims to prospect the potential for the implementation of GI leather saddles in Dores de Campos-MG, from the perspective of regional identity and the local socioeconomic context. For this, a research with a qualitative approach will be carried out, with a descriptive character, of an applied nature and as an investigation technique the case study. With the study, it is expected to characterize the territorial productive dynamics, identifying the stages and the production data and the profile of the leather saddles enterprises of Dores de Campos/MG; inventory the social and economic indicators, the geographical and historical aspects of the territory of Dores de Campos/MG and the tradition and notoriety of leather saddle activities; identify the current and potential participation of local institutional agents involved in the implementation process of the GI and assess the obstacles and potential for advancing the process of institutionalization and implementation of the GI in the region.

  • This term paper addresses social technologies as a tool to promote the development and improvement of solidarity economy enterprises. The literature points out that social technologies are cooperative efforts between social agents, non-governmental institutions, public authorities and research institutions that converge in the interest of leveraging economic, solidarity and local development. From the perspective presented, the research analyzes the role of the solidarity economy in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Minas/MG, based on Municipal Law nº 977/2015. It proposes the development of a tool based on indicators, with the objective of building subsidies for the decision-making of the factors involved in the aforementioned process of actions related to the solidarity economy in the municipality. The tool here called the analytical framework consists of defining the indicators with the participation of the people involved in the projects and the gathering of these indicators as a management tool. Therefore, an exploratory research was carried out, anchored in qualitative aspects, using the case study as a strategy. Data collection took place through a bibliographic study; documental research in secondary sources, such as laws, documents from the Technological Incubator of Popular Cooperatives (ITCP), enterprises and the city hall; the application of questionnaires to solidarity entrepreneurs involved in all actions related to the solidarity economy of the municipality to define the indicators. Once the indicators were defined, the Microsoft Excel® tool was used to create the analytical framework. The data show that social technologies are extremely necessary for the development of these enterprises and that incentives, through existing public policies, still need to take shape and strength to meet society's desires and transfer the knowledge generated in Federal Education Institutions (IFEs). ). Convergent actions and partnerships that combine the extension of IFEs, public policies, local solidarity entrepreneurs and public and non-governmental institutions, focused on innovation and development, in search of rescuing the citizenship of marginalized groups are needed.

  • The cooperation between the academic and business environment has become an advantageous strategy, as it represents for universities a source of additional resources needed to finance research and for companies, it represents the acquisition of new products, processes or technology without the need to participate in the associated risky internships to internal R&D. Despite the benefits of cooperation, several studies show that there is low use by the productive sector of the knowledge produced by universities. In this perspective, this work aimed to identify the critical factors of Technology Transfer between the Federal University of São João del-Rei and the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, in order to verify the influence of these factors on the performance of the process. A qualitative descriptive and analytical approach was adopted, through a case study, using documentary research and semi-structured interviews with the coordinators and servers of the Technological Innovation Centers and researchers involved in patents and technology transfer. The results found show that the transfer of Technology is still something complex for the studied universities, facing a series of barriers, among which bureaucracy stands out; turnover in NITs; the absence of a multidisciplinary team to search for prior art and draft the patent. However, it is possible to verify that the active profile of some researchers and their know-how have contributed to the technology transfer process, as these factors have favored the relationship, communication and trust between the University and the Productive Sector, helping to reduce cultural differences

  • The assessment of quality in education is an important milestone to ensure active, innovative, effective education that meets international efficiency standards. Globally, postgraduate evaluation is a dynamic process that, adopted as a strategy of continuous improvement, maintains the quality of teaching and guarantees the applicability of the results of its scientific research. In Brazil, this process is controlled by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), a government agency that monitors the programs, promotes and evaluates their development, social and international performance. The evaluation process carried out by CAPES is conducted by area commissions and uses the Sucupira Platform to collect data from the programs for the generation of reports and quality indicators. The completion of this platform is carried out by the managers of the graduate programs, who are responsible for collecting the data relevant to the evaluation from students, professors and administrative systems and launching them efficiently on the Sucupira Platform. In this context, it is important to understand the CAPES evaluation process and the complexity of using the Sucupira Platform from the perception of graduate program managers. This work aimed to identify the way in which the managers of postgraduate courses in the large area of Administration perceive the process of collecting and releasing data on the Sucupira Platform, how these managers manage this data and what is the role of the evaluation of graduate studies carried out by CAPES in the perception of managers. Based on this, a bibliographical and documentary research was carried out to better familiarize with the research topic and the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to collect primary data from the public studied. For data analysis, the triangulation technique was used. At the end of the research, it was concluded that postgraduate program managers recognize the importance of CAPES accreditation and evaluation for the growth and consolidation of national postgraduate studies. However, it was observed that there is a gap in the evaluation process, accompanied by a certain difficulty for graduate managers to collect and manage program information in order to achieve a better evaluation with CAPES, translating the real results measured by the programs . It was also noticed that, as already pointed out in the literature, the use of knowledge management tools and practices are essential to guarantee an effective management of the programs, thus aiming at a good evaluation of them by CAPES.

  • Given the scenario of significant changes that permeate the labor market, the strategic importance of people management processes in favor of organizational effectiveness is remarkable. Performance management is inserted in the stage of applying people in appropriate positions and functions through the analysis of requirements and essential skills to provide excellent services. As a complementary measure, performance evaluation allows the measurement of the work committed and becomes preponderant in raising the morale of employees by acting as an intangible incentive. Thus, the central objective of this work was based on developing and detailing a new perspective of performance evaluation that sought to highlight the main strengths and mitigate the weaknesses observed in the measurement methods used, especially in hierarchical organizational structures, represented mostly by the public sector. The improvement of the evaluation process aimed to reduce the quantitative and depreciative focus of traditional methods, based on the expected ideal performance, outlined by the service users themselves. Corroborating for the achievement of the central scope, we tried to highlight, among the specific objectives, the importance of people management and performance management. And, also, to evaluate the evaluation techniques used in traditional government organizations. The proposed measurement approach, focused on the excellence gap, was modeled and translated into web software, hosted on an online server, entitled Full Glass. Its competitive and innovative differential consisted in the prototyping of an accessible and visual tool, with the intention of being easily handled by any kind of organization. In addition, it provided important subsidies to the evaluated and to the evaluators, allowing self-criticism from both within the evaluation process. This program was validated in a sample portion of a Brazilian military organization, a public sector institution that represents, in its essence, the traditional Weberian design, with the purpose of improving the managerial process of evaluating people and services rendered. The exploratory research method was used, with emphasis on gap-filling, and action research through the methods of participant observation and focus groups during the use of the proposed tool. With this study, it was possible to demonstrate the possibility of peaceful coexistence between traditional organizational structures and process innovation models that have a high potential for increasing efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of services provided by the government.

  • Artificial Intelligence "is a branch of computer science research that seeks, through computational symbols, to build mechanisms and/or devices that simulate the human being's ability to think, solve problems, that is, to be intelligent" (SANTOS, 2021). At the National Institute of Intellectual Property – INPI, AI is analyzed from the perspective of a Computer Program, defined in law 9,609 of February 19, 1998. Thus, the general objective of this study is to analyze the legal consequences brought about by the use of Intelligence Artificial and how Brazilian legislation has protected the common citizen, facing possible conflicts involving this technology, based on the lecture given by Minister Luiz Fux, of the Federal Supreme Court, in September 2019, at the event “New Trends in Common Law – Artificial Intelligence, Economic Analysis of Law and Civil Procedure”, in London – England Thus, the intention is to point out the probable gaps in Brazilian legislation involving issues related to the use of Artificial Intelligence, such as Intellectual Property, knowing the various practices and related forms of protection using this innovation and examining the various ways in which it can be used in other countries and understand how AI impacts society as a whole. To this end, the available national and international bibliography will be used, as well as articles and technology and legal journals that report on the proposed topic. The method used will be the inductive one, starting from the lecture given by the STF Minister, Luiz Fux. The present work is justified in view of the likely consequences that the use of AI can generate in the judicial sphere, whether in the protection of intellectual property or in the protection of the rights of ordinary citizens, exposed to a possible harmful event, as a result of its use of Artificial Intelligence by third parties. The legal system protects Artificial Intelligence as Intellectual Property, leaving the common citizen exposed, without safeguards in relation to the possibility of being a victim of harmful events caused by technology. There is still no legal consensus on the indispensability of creating specific standards or institutes to address issues related to AI. There are several questions, but there is little literature to help us unravel this issue.

  • Sugarcane cultivation represented an important historical and economic activity in Brazil. From sugarcane came the cane liquor or artisanal cachaça, a beverage with great appeal for the protection of their way of making. Considering it, the Geographical Indication (GI) emerges as an opportunity to spread artisanal cachaças recognition around the country and abroad. Despite Brazilian potential for many GI to artisanal cachaças, only three GIs are granted for the product in the country. Coronel Xavier Chaves has been recognized to produce artisanal cachaça, in this way the aim of this work was to verify the potential of this municipality to acquire the GI registration for its produced cachaça. So, was obtained: the perception of the producers related to the GI using field research; the recognition of the notoriety of cachaças by survey research; the identification of the GI modality most appropriate, using the information acquired from the producers and the municipality; the investigation of institutions capable of acting in the IG requested; and, finally, a proposal of a specification booklet. About 80% of the producers maintain a family tradition, producing around 156,000 liters of artisanal cachaça by year. There are pieces of evidence illustrating the existence of know-how associated with artisanal cachaça production through generations. This municipality has the oldest mill in operation in Brazil, where nine generations before, produces cachaça. The cachaça of Coronel Xavier Chaves appears recurrently in national quality rankings of cachaças suggesting notoriety and quality. Despite all indicators that the municipality has a great potential to obtain the GI seal, there are two significant obstacles to reaching it. First, is the absence of an association of the producers of artisanal cachaça. Second, and consequently, the weak connection among producers. Even though the great advantages of a GI for artisanal cachaça of Coronel Xavier Chaves municipality, it will be not possible without local institutions' assistance to the producers to solve these obstacles and only after, to offer its benefits to the municipality.

  • In the logistics sector, continuous improvement in the provision of services through innovation is essential for companies to remain competitive in the market. Encouraging the generation of ideas within companies to solve problems and the development of new products as well as process improvement are examples that portray how management focused on innovation can generate customer satisfaction and consequent market gain. In this context, this research proposes to elaborate proposals, recommendations or referrals to improve the innovation program of a reference company in the Brazilian logistics sector and its management. Based on the Innovation Octagon, an analysis was carried out that presented the innovation management profile of the studied company. Through documental, bibliographic research and effective participation in an innovative program, a reflection on organizational practices aimed at promoting innovation was promoted. The present research made it possible to understand that innovation, through innovative management, if understood and practiced in all its aspects, generates value both for the company that increases its power of competitiveness, and for the customer with more attractions for them. The results showed that, in general, practices aimed at managing innovation in the company already meet most of the requirements and are structured. However, although the innovation theme is in an advanced process in the company, there are points for improvement in the development of both the management and the execution of innovative projects.

  • Geographical Indication (GI) is a modality of intellectual property that recognizes a location as the origin
of a product or service due to its peculiar quality, reputation or characteristic related specifically to the
origin. It brings relevant economic, social, cultural and environmental importance for that location. There
are several ways to protect GIs and its application and interpretation vary in different jurisdictions through
specific regulatory systems. Currently In Brazil the Law 9279 of May 14, 1996, is the legal framework that
regulates GI. This law establishes two types of protection for geographical indications, Indications of
Origin (IO) and Designations of Origin (DO). In the scientific field, the theme has several relevant works
that have been published. The main areas of publication are agriculture, economics, food science and
technology, geography, and social sciences. Given the relevance of geographical indications, it is
important to know the field of scientific studies that have been carried out on this subject. In this context,
the present study has the general objective of analyzing the scientific evolution of studies on
geographical indication by mapping the intellectual, conceptual and social structures of the field. To
achieve this objective a bibliometric and scientometric research was carried out. The data was collected
from the Web of Science database and analyzed using Bibliometrix, CitNetExplorer, Vosviewer and
CiteSpace software. At the end of the study, the following results are expected: demonstrate the state of
the art of the referred theme through the analysis of the intellectual structure of the analyzed articles; the
measure of scientific collaboration between the authors, i.e. the social structure of the theme; the
dynamics of the conceptual structure of the field, through the analysis of the evolution of the theme and
the topics associated with the lines of research; and, also, to evaluate the trends for future research,
through the analysis of the gaps in the literature proposed by the analyzed articles.

  • This research aims to identify the procedures adopted for the registration of the Geographical Indication of handloom handicrafts in the municipality of Resende Costa - MG, in order to present an integrated process capable of contributing to the improvement and understanding of the registration of these distinctive signs . The activity of handicraft in loom is preponderant in the city, being the basis of local economic development. When thinking about a way to keep handcrafts in the city's loom, the Institute of Geographical Indications emerged as a plausible alternative. Thus, this report aims to present the steps to reach the registration request. An action research was carried out using as methodological instruments the analysis of documents and records of daily work in the environment, which generated results for the municipality to guarantee the registration of Geographical Indication. From these results, the importance of GI registration for the economy and population of that municipality is obtained, valuing it even more for the market.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the application of formal devices foreseen by the Federal Innovation Law in the technology transfer processes of the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ) to companies. The interaction between universities and companies is of major importance as presupposed by the Triple Helix model (university-companies-government). The research institutes and universities are some of the main generators of scientific knowledge in Brazil, which can be disseminated and absorbed by companies. However, there is little transfer of technology from these institutions to the private sector. One of the reasons which explains the low effectiveness of the process is related to bureaucratic procedures inherent to the public institutions involved. Therefore, to implement the transfer of technology from federal university to companies, studies indicate that institutional norms and provisions of the legislation governing the matter must be efficiently applied, in particular the Federal Innovation Law number 10.973, from December 2nd of 2004, updated by the Law number 13.243, from January 11th of 2016. In order to discuss this issue, it is necessary to analyze specific case studies, as the institutional apparatus that involves the university-company interaction may vary between institutions. For that, methodologically, a qualitative-exploratory study was developed, which adopted the single case study technique, through semi-structured interviews and document analysis of the UFSJ administrative resolutions of processes (DUARTE, 2004; TRIVIÑOS, 1987). The UFSJ partially applies the formal devices of technology transference foreseen by the Federal Innovation Law. Only the provisions of the assignment and licensing and partnership agreements for research, development and innovation (RD&I) are minimally regulated internally. The devices of provision of specialized technical services or the creation of spin-offs through the participation of the institution with minority capital are not applied due to the lack of standardization. Even those devices applied still lack clearer rules about the administrative procedures involved. The results showed that the main problems to transfer technology through formal devices foreseen by the Federal Innovation Law at UFSJ refer to issues related to the bureaucracy inherent to administrative procedures and to the allocation of specialized personnel in sufficient quantity to meet the demands. These problems constitute barriers that prevent the provision of specialized technical services and the creation of spin-offs with the Institution’s shareholding. The other devices of technology transference studied, the licensing/assignment of technology and the partnership agreement for RD&I, although with implanted processes, suffer from the effects of the problems mentioned. Therefore, this work contributes, in a practical way, by presenting proposals for improvements in procedural flows, aiming at the rationalization, improvement and implementation of standards for the effectiveness of the processes of technology transference from UFSJ to companies, in order to mitigate the problems identified in the application of formal devices and contribute to the strengthening of the innovation policy to be reviewed and improved by the higher administration of the investigated university.

  • Given the current socioeconomic scenarios, universities play an important role in identifying and exploring opportunities that have not been previously seen. In this sense, the term Entrepreneurial University (EU) opens the discussion about a third mission for universities, in addition to teaching and research, to work on economic and social development simultaneously. Thus, in recent years, at the academic level, studies on the Entrepreneurial University represented an area of great research opportunity to bring examples of good practices, strategies, solutions and recommendations to the university, authorities and policy makers. However, little is known about how Universities adopt and adapt the concept / model to become more entrepreneurial and there are still concerns about a “one size fits all” approach. Thus, this research aimed to analyze the dimensions / indicators established in a theoretical model in the context of a public university in the interior of Brazil. To achieve its objective, the research carried out was of a qualitative approach, of the exploratory type and case study. The collected data were tabulated and compiled into categories such as entrepreneurial culture, infrastructure, innovation, extension, internationalization and financial capital. The results showed that the studied University has a proactive faculty and student that contributes to the growth of projects with impact inside and outside the University, however, it is still necessary to improve the entrepreneurial culture of its entire university community as well as to develop its teaching. entrepreneur. Significant entrepreneurial activities were also found in progress, however, the need for structuring formal environments to support entrepreneurship was identified, as well as its innovation and internationalization policy, which are recent and not yet consolidated. It is concluded that these discriminated data, will provide clarity to the managers to identify potential areas of development of academic entrepreneurship and will contribute to improve the understanding of the theoretical and empirical implications of an Entrepreneurial University.

  • This work aims to evaluate the methodology used by the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ) to measure the maturity of the technology developed by its researchers, intended for transfer to the productive sector, in order to propose improvements in this procedure. Therefore, the perception of the Institution’s researchers, who develop technological research is analyzed, on the indicators of technological maturity defined by the Technical Standard ABNT NBR ISO 16290:2015, the technical standard which guides the application of the Technology Readiness Level methodology (TRL), commonly used for this activity in Brazil. In order to support the elaboration of TRL scales suitable for each technology being measured, a literature survey was carried out on the methodologies for measuring technological maturity, based on levels, in order to establish a bank of indicators for use by the UFSJ. Finally, a methodology for evaluating the potential of transfer technologies is proposed, based on the maturity levels, to be used by UFSJ. For this, an applied quantitative and qualitative research was done. The primary data collection was done by the application of semi-structured questionnaires to researchers at the institution, and the secondary data collection was done by bibliographical research, and documentary research with UFSJ’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation (NETEC). This work contributes in identifying more appropriate application and methodologies based on TRL to measure the maturity of technologies developed by universities, considering the expansion of the scope of attributes of the technologies and adding useful indicators in monitoring the positioning of the technology in relation to the state of the art and the market.

  • A Regional Innovation System is characterized by the integrated action between its actors: companies, universities, research institutes, Technology Transfer offices and public and private financing agents in order to facilitate innovations at a regional level. Considering that the university is the main knowledge-producing agent within the context of Innovation Systems, the present research has the general goal of mapping of the innovation generated in Higher Education Institutions headquartered in the cities of the Midwest region of Minas Gerais. To this end, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied to the NITs managers or to the person indicated by the participating institutions campuses directors. Eleven Higher Education Institutions based in cities in the Midwest region of Minas Gerais participated in the research, five of which were federal institute campuses, three public university campuses and three private university campuses. All the questions were related to the innovation generated only on the campuses located in the Midwest region of Minas Gerais and not in the institution as a whole and had as themes the Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and incentive to Entrepreneurship. The results demonstrated the potential to support innovation by most of the researched HEIs, which for the most part have protected intellectual properties and carry out activities to support Entrepreneurship. However, the small number of Technology Transfers to the productive sector, demonstrates the need to improve the relationship with companies in the region. For this, an important action would be the implementation of NIT on the region's campuses.
