Flag of faith: religion and political identity in Brazil in a psychoanalytic reading.
Psychoanalysis; Religion; Policy;
Our research deals with a notorious phenomenon at different times in the history of Brazil, and which gains a new manifestation with the current so-called evangelical growth, a close relationship between popular mobilizations linked to authoritarian political positions and their motivations linked to the field of religion. Part of our research, therefore, is directed towards the objective of understanding the particularities of a religious involvement that allows the connection with such a policy, having as an approach, primarily, the psychoanalytic reading on religion and its effects on the subject, both in Freud and in Lacan. We will also pay attention to the social aspects that provide new coordinates to the point of contact between religion and politics, taking into account that this point takes place on the particular field of modern society. And in so far as they are related, perhaps religion has something to say about politics, just as politics has something to say about religion.
