SUMMARY:

We address the inclusion of people with physical disabilities in the educational and work spheres. It is assumed that inclusion contributes to the creation of a more diverse and egalitarian environment. This reflects values of respect, valuing differences and combating discrimination. Considering that the process of congenital disability generates feelings, emotions and psychosocial implications, the present research aimed to understand the impacts of contextual and cultural aspects on the life trajectories and subjectivity of women with congenital or acquired physical disabilities in early childhood. The specific objectives are: i) to understand the life trajectories of women with physical disabilities, explaining how they interpret themselves in the face of their own disability; ii) identify possible relationships between life trajectories and the school and work contexts in which they lived, taking into account the participants' perception of the inclusion process itself; and iii) analyze the impacts of accessibility barriers for these people in the face of disability. We carried out qualitative, exploratory research and used semi-structured interviews as a data collection instrument. Ana and Amélia's reports helped us in the construction of our indications, favoring reflections based on Life Stories. These interviews were transcribed and analyzed using Content Analysis , allowing the creation of four categories: i) Prejudice and intersectionality:
narratives of inclusion and exclusion of women with disabilities; ii) Gender and disability: intersections and perspectives; iii) Accessibility at work: (re)significations between insertion, inclusion in the search for professional recognition; and iv) School accessibility: constructions and setbacks in the experiences of disability. It was noticed that congenital disability is inserted as a striking factor in the lives of these people, taking into account feelings, emotions, anguish, suffering, and in return, recognition, belonging and (re)significations in the face of the disability itself. The gender factor, ‘being a woman’, provided enabling factors, in relation to work, leisure, school and society. Work was experienced as a driver of subjective and social belonging. However, for the most part, this environment was named in an apathetic way, based on reports that express prejudice and
professional devaluation. In view of accessibility, the precariousness of the ability to build a relationship of belonging was considered. It is considered that the research contributed to the reflection and understanding of subjective factors related to the life history of people with disabilities, enabling new perspectives for new and more in-depth studies on the subject.
