SUMMARY:

Motor skills development is understood as a continuous change in motor behavior throughout life. Delays in developmental milestones in multiple domains may indicate risk for the onset of disorders. However, few delays are detected by health professionals. This is due, among other reasons, to the lack of early assessment and screening instruments. Brazilian instruments for assessing child development are scarce. For this reason, the Dimensional Assessment of Child Development Inventory (IDADI) was developed in Brazil, a multidimensional instrument for assessing the development of children aged between four and 72 months through parental reports. However, for a comprehensive assessment, multiple sources of information are needed. Thus, the objective of this project is to transform IDADI's motor domain items into tasks for direct assessment of the child. For this, we seek to identify the most used instruments for assessing children's motor skills and describe their operational and psychometric characteristics, aiming to establish bases for the construction of the IDADI-tasks. Empirical research will employ a developmental design e and will use quantitative and qualitative methods. The methodology involves checking the theoretical relevance, adequacy, and clarity of the stimuli and the practical applicability of the tasks in the clinical context with the help of experts in child development. In addition, pilot applications of the tasks will be carried out in children and in clinicians who work with motor skills, aiming at the necessary improvement and adjustments. It is expected that IDADI-tasks will become a promising tool, providing advancement in the areas of Child Development, Psychological Assessment, and Health.
