Social representations and structural racism: an analysis of the tension between blacks and whites in contemporary teledramaturgy
Structural Racism. Soup Operas. Critical Discourse Analysis.
The research aims to analyse, based on the Critical Discourse Analysis methodology proposed by Fairclough ([1992] 2001) and Fairclough (2005) together with the assumptions of Social Semiotics by Hodger and Kress (1988), the clippings of Brazilian soap operas produced between the years 2000 and 2021, analyzing conflicts in the form of ethnic-racial discursive tension between black and white characters to identify how these conflicts reaffirm and condone structural racism in contemporary times.
