SUMMARY:

The work Um defeito de cor, by Ana Maria Gonçalves, is a novel that tells part of Brazil's slave history through the experiences of several characters, the story is narrated by a black and African character. The fictional novel filled with history, narrates the life of this black woman trafficked from Africa as a child and all the difficulties, violence and oppression suffered since crossing the Atlantic and her experiences upon arrival in Brazil, as an adult in search of her son sold by her father. white husband, a very common practice during the slavery period, until his return to Africa. The objective of this dissertation is to highlight intersectionality and how it exposes the countless violence, objectifications, and discrimination suffered by black bodies present in the novel Um Defeito De Cor. To do this, it is first necessary to understand the gaps that fill the work, specify what it would be “color defect”, the identity of black people, in addition to presenting intersectionality in excerpts from the novel and in examples in contemporary media.
