SUMMARY:

In this present work it will be analyzed the narrative developed in the series “The Mechanism”, by José Padilha, including the historical-political conjuncture of the events that the show portrays. The series, produced by the streaming company Netflix and launched in March 2018, narrates the rise of the money laundering investigation resulted in Operation Car Wash. The audiovisual fiction production contains several references and representations of main events surrounding the police investigations and their impact on Brazilian politics, which culminate in the arrest of several businessmen and politicians and the removal of the president elected.
