SUMMARY:

This research has as its object of study the intellectual Alberto da Veiga Guignard. The delineation of the artist's trajectory, networks of sociability and the ways in which the landscapes produced by the artist relate to the thinking of intellectuals involved with the modernist movement as well as with the projects of the government and its institutions towards the construction of a national identity is the subject of our investigation. The spatial cutout focuses on Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and the historic cities of Minas Gerais, which have been the main places of activity for the painter since his definitive return from Europe, in 1929. The temporal cutout falls between the years of 1929 , the date of the artist's return to Brazil, and 1962, the year of his death.
