Graphs and statistical data are increasingly present in our daily life, generating an increasing need for knowledge that allows them to understand the information provided by them.One of the major challenges for teaching mathematics in basic education is how to make it more accessible to students so that they can understand this information, especially those disseminated in the media.In this context, the Covid 19 pandemic provided the transmission of information through column and line charts, concepts of moving averages and data recorded over time.Such subjects are not widely explored in basic education and relationships with practical situations are distant from students.Thus, this paper proposes a didactic sequence to work on the mentioned subjects, in addition to the concepts of time series, tendency and parking, with students of the 9th year of elementary school.The proposal aimed to present the concepts and contextualized examples related to reality in order to provide an understanding of information conveyed in the media. It is expected that this proposal can assist teachers of basic education in teaching statistical content addressed in mathematics classes.
