MATHEMATICS MODELING FOR TEACHERS: A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO TEACHING APPLICABLE MATHEMATICS
mathematical modeling, mathematics teaching, mobile phone rates, propagation of COVID-19 cases in Brazil.
The main objective of this work is to reflect on the use of mathematical modeling as a didactic tool. We present it as an alternative active methodology for teaching mathematics in basic education, seeking to place the student as a protagonist in the construction of their knowledge. Through the mathematical interpretation of real problems, we try to support the teaching-learning process. The mathematics teacher is invited to verify how the construction of a mathematical model can be done during his teaching practice, in view of two examples for secondary education: the modeling of mobile phone rates and the modeling of the propagation of COVID-19 cases in the Brazil.
