SUMMARY:

The teaching of geography, which seeks a critical and reflective geographic education, enables the student to have a systemic understanding of the geographic space in which he lives, observing the transformations and actions built by the society in which he is inserted, through his relations to and with the space inhabited, thus allowing the student to reflect and understand how these changes are part of the landscape. In this sense, the eminent research has as an object of investigation the knowledge to be built with students of the 3rd year of High School of the Integral Education Program of the State School Rangel Pestana, based on a geographic education that considers the space of the school surroundings, the transformation of the landscape and the urban environment in the city of Amparo - SP. Thus, of a qualitative nature of the action-research genre, based on the historical-dialectical method, the research aims to verify the geographical knowledge that young people present and build about the space surrounding the school and the city where they live, the aspects mobilized in its analysis. expected in a geographical thought and reasoning, from the landscape category and the city theme. For this, a didactic sequence will be developed as a teaching methodology and also as a research instrument, based on the methodology of the Study of the Environment.
