SUMMARY:

In recent years, there has been a sharp growth of agribusiness in Brazil. Based on this, it was necessary to investigate how this new business model has been developing in the Microregion of São João del Rei / MG in the periods from 2000 to 2020, measuring the growth of corn production such as agricultural implements such as tractors, harvesters and planters. The aim of this dissertation, in addition to the analysis of the variables mentioned, is to understand whether the advance of agribusiness in the Microregion of São João del Rei/MG is interfering with local food sovereignty and whether other crops are no longer being produced. Theoretical studies on the subject were carried out, in addition to the search for data in platforms such as IBGE, SIDRA and CONAB as well as fieldwork.
