ENVIRONMENTAL VULNERABILITY IN THREE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AREAS OF THE CERRADO BIOME IN THE STATE OF MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL
Protected Natural Areas; Conservation units; SNUC; Territorial planning; Geographic Information System.
The Environmental Protection Areas (EPA) are models of Conservation Units endowed with natural, aesthetic and cultural attributes considered essential for the quality of life of the human population. However, it is noted that this category of management has, in general, low management efficiency and effectiveness in environmental protection, arising from the various challenges, pressures and existing threats that hinder the fulfillment of its objectives. This low effectiveness can cause greater pressure on natural habitats, and eventually generate considerable levels of vulnerability in their territory. In this sense, the present work aims to diagnose the environmental vulnerability of three EPA of the Cerrado biome in the State of Minas Gerais: EPA Cavernas of Peruaçu; Pandeiros River Basin EPA; and the EPA Uruana of Minas. With the help of ArcGIS Pro software, data from the Geographic Information System will be used to prepare and integrate maps of slope, geology, pedology and land use and occupation, in order to determine the Environmental Vulnerability Index. It is hoped that this study will provide information necessary for the review and preparation of management plans for the study areas, as well as contributing to the environmental planning of the territory.
