INTERPRETATION OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL LANDSCAPE THROUGH PEDOGEOMORPHOLOGICAL, MICROMORPHOLOGICAL AND CERAMIC ARTIFACTS ANALYSIS

Studies on the interpretation of the landscape of archaeological sites in the Campo das Aspendas region are still scarce, despite the massive presence of sites with ceramic and lithic artifacts found in the region. This research was carried out in the municipality of Lagoa Dourada, in the village of Arame. This location was chosen because it is an easily accessible site with a large presence of ceramic artifacts interspersed between the soil horizons. Due to the material richness and as a way to contribute to the understanding of the occupation of pre-Columbian peoples in the region under study, this work aims to carry out a pedogeomorphological, micromorphological and ceramic analysis of the archaeological site of the village of Arame. As a methodological procedure, a horizontal and vertical analysis of surface formation was carried out, then five soil profiles were made. After analyzing and describing the profiles, soils were collected for textural, chemical and organic matter analyses, in addition to undisturbed analysis for the preparation of thin soil slides for micromorphological analysis. Preliminary analyzes suggest clayey soils, with an anthropic organic layer similar to terra pretas de Índio, found in the Amazon region, the organic matter content of this layer differs from the rest of the analyzed horizons. Later results may indicate more evidence of occupation and the correlation of pedological horizons with the manufacture of ceramics.
