THE HIV VIRUS DISSEMINATION: DO CYBERSPACE THE DISSEMINATION OF THE PHENOMENON IN “CONCRETE SPACE”
cyber space; the HIV virus spread; space
A popular appearance in the development of the 1980s, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus - HIV is in post-modernity one of the fastest growing diseases, triggering high rates around the world. Initially linked to stigmatized groups such as homosexuals and sex workers, the scenario that HIV holds today, after four decades, exceeds countless delimitations in the concrete space. Together with this, there emerges from the second decade of the 21st century, a collective group of individuals consisting of men who have sex with other men (MSM), who have the ideology of purposefully transmitting the HIV virus. Such practice occurs due to several factors, such as anger, adventure, and pleasure among others, in various environments of the concrete space of the city, such as squares, nightclubs, and other places. Finally, we highlight the substantial role of cyberspace, given the above, which has become an essential communication tool in post-modernity. Moreover, the interaction of these individuals in cyberspace provides: exchanges of experiences, gives rise to sexual and casual encounters, in addition to fostering well-founded and established discussions and reflections about HIV and its prophylaxis measures.
