PAGES: 25
BIG AREA: Ciências Exatas e da Terra
AREA: Química
SUMMARY:

Carbon dots are a new class of carbon nanomaterials that have interesting characteristics such as nanometer size, broad absorption spectra ranging from the ultraviolet to visible region, electron donating and accepting behavior as well as low production cost, low toxicity and good compatibility environment, such characteristics make carbon dots promising materials for application in solar cells. In this work, the synthesis of multicolored carbon dots was carried out by the solvothermal method, using 1,3,6 - Trinitropyrene (TNP) as precursor and toluene, DMF and mixture between DMF and water were used separately as synthesis solvents, different times were also evaluated of synthesis time to observe the influence of the synthesis conditions in the obtaining of carbon points. The synthesized carbon dots were dispersed in different solvents, showing better solubility in non-polar solvents. Changes in the emission spectra were verified with the variation of these solvents. The synthesized carbon dots showed different structural and optical properties, in addition the effect of the solvent used as the emission spectra showed bands in the yellow, red and blue region for the syntheses in toluene, DMF and DMF/water respectively, in addition Furthermore, the carbon dots showed broad absorption bands, emission independent of the excitation wavelength, infrared spectroscopy revealed the presence of oxygenated and nitrogenated functional groups. The effect of temperature on the synthesis time can be observed in the absorption spectrum where an increase in the intensity of the π→π* band and in relation to the n→π* band can be observed. In general, the partial results achieved the objectives of synthesis of multicolored carbon dots, with the perspective of carrying out additional characterizations and applying the materials obtained in solar cells.
