Perceptions about São João Heritage: the antagonism of the conservative city
This work intends to discuss the theme of material cultural heritage of the city of São João del-Rei, highlighting the relevance of modern architecture designed by Jorge Taier. For this, scientific methods will guide the study, using specific systems that will seek to explain the perceptions obtained through observation and reflection over a period of about ten years. In this sense, the inductive process will support the investigation that originates from subjective perceptions, sufficiently verified through local experiences, which infer a truth in the scenario to which they are imposed, but which have not yet been exposed and debated widely. In addition, some bibliographies were of great importance for the debates, such as the theories of Tulio de Oliveira Tortoriello, which helped in the discussion about heritage and history, the studies of André Dangelo, which analyze the territorial evolution of the city in question, the concepts of Paola Jacques, which are potentially capable of broadening the debate on ways of living the city and the considerations of Giulio Argan, which guide contemporary architecture and its relationship with the arts. These studies support the research and strengthen its objective in search of the diffusion of its cultural wealth in a broad and plural way, allowing architecture to serve as a narrative that attests to the historical, political and economic development of the city and its society through the ages. In addition, it explores the understanding of architectural representations as one of the expressions of art that make up the urban landscape and allows the materialization of the relationship between space and body, both in its physical and affective and emotional form, even if unconsciously, contributing to the construction of spaces. relationships of belonging and identification of a society that currently has its characteristics limited to the stereotype determined only by hegemony.
