Solid Waste Management Indicators: a case study in city of São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais.

The Project entitled Solid Waste Management Indicators: a case study in city of São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais, is focused on the study of the process management of MSW (Urban Solid Waste) based on nine indicators of sustainability, they are: Indicator 1 – System Configuration (Institutional Arrangement); Indicator 2 – Infrastructure (Facilities and Equipment); Indicator 3 - Financial Sustainability; Indicator 4 – Provision of Services; Indicator 5 - Human Resources Involved; Indicator 6 – Organizational Aspects; Indicator 7 - Social Extension; Indicator 8 – Legal Compliance; and Indicator 9 – Impacts Environmental. The first moment of the project endorses the environmental problem of GRSU and the Context of Brazilian Urbanization, the history of GRSU and MSW in Brazil, conceptualization of MSW, the difficulties of public managers, the generation, collection and destination of MSW, as well as environmental and MSW indices and indicators. O second moment of the project is focused on the case study based on the indicators of sustainability adapted and presented by academic Neliton Marques da Silva in his Master's Dissertation entitled Evaluation of Management Systems Solid Waste from the Municipalities of Iranduba, Manacapuru and Novo Airão, AM, in the year from 2012.
