SUMMARY:

This research aims to delve deeper into the issues that afflict societies in the 21st century, such as environmental issues, the organization of space and society, housing, work and education, proposing, through “Formal and non-formal education”, different ways of looking at these spaces, at culture, and for a better use of waste derived from human activities and production processes, giving them new meaning, through applied arts and upcycling (process of using waste where waste is added value through design and art) as guiding threads.

It is also intended to propose that upcycling may be considered, under some circumstances of applicability, as an art and science, since it is necessary to use research to search for solutions and new methodologies for making pieces. .

The methodology used will be action research, where we will analyze the possible benefits of the project “Humans in Construction, Art, Life and Sustainability”, applied to different audiences in the period from 2018 to 2023, where, through the particularities of upcycling, as a method educational that expands repertoires and awakenings, leads the practitioner to seek knowledge, modify the way they look at their surroundings and develop skills that range from an electrical installation to more complex sculptural processes, developing curiosity to learn, environmental and social awareness , artistic sensitivity and scientific thinking.
