SUMMARY:

The research presented here will be written in an autobiographical format and will make use of of a poetic and essayistic narrative. Its main objective is to use memories affective feelings that I built throughout my work as an art educator for discuss the importance of art teaching committed to political and citizenship of the subjects. The mirror, a metaphor used to problematize the concept of “the see beyond”, will be an important element, together with the studies carried out in the field of memory and also as a reflection on ourselves. I organized the dissertation in NARRATIVES. The idea was to narrate with the strength of the soul, in an active movement of those who fight through words (hooks, 2019). In NARRATIVES I “A stop for the saudade...”, inspired by the book “Teaching to transgress” by bell hooks, I present an affective summary of the main events that affected me; NARRATIVES II “.Populating worlds and experiencing new ways of looking…” I share stories of provocative experiences as an art educator, strengthening the proposal for meaningful teaching and new ways of looking; NARRATIVES III “Breaking paradigms: Challenges and expectations of teaching in Art”, “it is time to “weave the verb” and provoke new readings. Let's turn the mirrors around and look behind the silver nitrate (FLUSSER,1998)! Let's make the voice of the oppressed echo (FREIRE, 1987)! During my writing I constructed a cartography with the main forces that pushed me to get here: ancestry, experiments, sharing… They may reverberate as an exercise in revisiting the affective memories of every reader.
