SUMMARY:

At the margin of the margin are places like Santa Cruz de Minas, and Dogtown in Santa Monica, California. But what do these places have in common? Abandoned pools and a series of interventions that modify and resignify the city's idle spaces based on urban culture, mobilized especially by the social group of skateboarders. And this socio-spatial transformation has characteristics that can be analyzed and better understood with the contribution of Deleuze and Guattari (2011), especially with complexity and rhizomes, which will guide us through a cartography of skateboarding through forgotten places. Within this street perspective, we will also pay attention to the action of urban artists, such as graffiti artists, pixadores, jugglers, and several other modalities that occupy the spaces outside the galleries and show houses. This is because they reveal a symbolic appropriation that reassembles, through images and bodily performances, facts forgotten in the overlapping of historical layers existing in these places. However, before an immersion in the interventions described, it is important to contextualize historical issues that occurred in the formation of the identity of santacruzenses and skaters as a social group, which will be done in Chapter 1 below.
