SUMMARY:

In the globalized era, changes are constant and happen with enormous speed and, in this context, Brazilian federal universities are increasingly relevant and need to innovate and adapt to society's expectations. To achieve an efficient and effective management, the people who occupy the management positions are essential since they will manage the financial, human and administrative resources of the institution, and, simultaneously, be a good leader and represent the institution before the community. Western society has been establishing itself on the basis of unequal relations between men and women, especially in the labor market, more and more institutions need to provide equal opportunities for genders, both to become increasingly human and inclusive and to become more competitive in the market. The aim of this paper is to analyze the process of occupying management positions at a federal university, verifying whether there is an unequal occupation between genders and whether this has any impact. The technique for the development of the study is applied research, since the objective is to generate knowledge for a practical application. The research is a case study with the analysis of documents made available on public portals and with the use of semi-structured interviews. For the analysis of the interviews, the methodology used will be the French discourse analysis.
