SUMMARY:

This paper has the objective of analyzing the work “Em Nome do Pai” (1987), by Alcione Araújo, as well as its social, political and cultural characteristics. It is sought to understand a little more about how the historical context of his biography presents the social, historic and thematic changes in his work. For that, the concept of ‘familiar’ established in the work “Em Nome do Pai” was used, thus obtaining the clash between reason and emotion within the characters of the father and son parallel to the Brechtian text “Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder”. The connection between the dramatic language of Alcione Araújo and the proposed epic playwright, developed by Bertold Brecht, is established, emphasizing the affinities and similitudes, also analyzing the particularities of his writing. The concept of “Political Theater” is explored, through which the proposed authors guide their work and the possibilities of acting as a source of resistance to the social and political changes of society.
