The Brazilian software industry has stood out for its expansion and technological advancement, its standard in software development can be compared to international standards and its growth perspective for the coming years has reached excellent rates. It is a dynamic industry with essential participation in the Brazilian economy, mainly in economic and social development. Software is this industry's main intellectual asset and represents its greatest intellectual property asset. The great importance of software intellectual property protection for the Brazilian software industry can be observed, guaranteeing its rights over its creations, to encourage its growth and support its dynamism. Brazil has legislation for software protection, which is in line with the international treaties to which it is a member. The purpose of this study is to present a vision of the Brazilian software industry regarding the Brazilian protection of software intellectual property.
