BIG AREA: Ciências Sociais Aplicadas

SUMMARY:

Given the current socioeconomic scenarios, universities play an important role in identifying and exploring opportunities that have not been previously seen. In this sense, the term Entrepreneurial University (EU) opens the discussion about a third mission for universities, in addition to teaching and research, to work on economic and social development simultaneously. Thus, in recent years, at the academic level, studies on the Entrepreneurial University represented an area of great research opportunity to bring examples of good practices, strategies, solutions and recommendations to the university, authorities and policy makers. However, little is known about how Universities adopt and adapt the concept / model to become more entrepreneurial and there are still concerns about a “one size fits all” approach. Thus, this research aimed to analyze the dimensions / indicators established in a theoretical model in the context of a public university in the interior of Brazil. To achieve its objective, the research carried out was of a qualitative approach, of the exploratory type and case study. The collected data were tabulated and compiled into categories such as entrepreneurial culture, infrastructure, innovation, extension, internationalization and financial capital. The results showed that the studied University has a proactive faculty and student that contributes to the growth of projects with impact inside and outside the University, however, it is still necessary to improve the entrepreneurial culture of its entire university community as well as to develop its teaching. entrepreneur. Significant entrepreneurial activities were also found in progress, however, the need for structuring formal environments to support entrepreneurship was identified, as well as its innovation and internationalization policy, which are recent and not yet consolidated. It is concluded that these discriminated data, will provide clarity to the managers to identify potential areas of development of academic entrepreneurship and will contribute to improve the understanding of the theoretical and empirical implications of an Entrepreneurial University.
