SUMMARY:

Judging by Foucault's insistence in sustaining that power relations do not happen without resistance, this dissertation aims to discuss the exercise of power and forms of resistance within the strategic field of power relations. Assuming such inseparability, the first chapter is intended to clarify what resistance is for Foucault. In the first section we present the general lines of Foucault's conception of power. In the second and third sections, we clarify, respectively, the two poles of biopower: discipline and biopolitics. In the fourth section we deal with the notion of microphysics of resistance. In the last section, we present the reconfiguration of the notion of power and point to self-subjectivation as a form of resistance to being governed.
