BODIES UNDER PRESSURE: IDENTITIES AND NARRATIVES OF CONTEMPORARY WOMEN ON INSTAGRAM
Body; Woman; Identities; Narratives; Instagram.
The thematization of the woman's body from the perspective of deconstructing paradigms related to beauty and behavior has been present in the public and private spheres. Such aspects seem to be under review and the narrative that promotes the perfect or ideal body has been giving place to self-acceptance proposals and reconstruction of identities. Considering the context in which social networks operate under the reformulation of what “being a woman” is, as an object of study, we analyzed the profile on Instagram of the digital influencer Mirian Bottan. We investigated how the creation of self-narratives in social networks allows women to occupy new social spaces, in addition to objectifications and other tensions such as the centralization of their identities. To compose the corpus of the analysis, were selected posts – images and captions – from the profile of Mirian Bottan that approach the question of bodies and behaviors, having as reference the theoretical contributions of Simone de Beauvoir, Judith Butler, Naomi Wolf, Susan Sontag, Philippe Lejeune, among other authors. Thus, we discuss how, in contemporary times, such posts can act in the process of reconstructing women's identities and foment new forms of narratives.
