Liberalism and laicization: Strauss' interpretation of Spinoza's progressive solution to the theological-political problem.

The purpose of this research is to approach the interpretation developed by Leo Strauss about the solution proposed by Spinoza to the theological-political problem. In achieving this objective, we will try to elucidate, firstly, how, for Strauss, the theological-political problem constitutes a central element to understand the philosophical and spiritual dynamics of the West and, from this, secondly, how, In the Straussian perspective, this problem is articulated in the context of Spinoza's thought, analyzing Strauss's exegetical conception that Spinoza's solution to the so-called Jewish question, intending to refute biblical revelation and the religious orthodoxy linked to it, involves a rejection of the classical position and the promotion of liberalism, leading to the consolidation of the political project that is characteristic of the modern Enlightenment.
